A workshop utilizing somatic based work to inspire and create group and solo improvisation scores. This work has roots in Body-Mind Centering/Global Somatics, the Re-Education of the Body teachings of Barbara Mahler, the improvisation teachings of Nita Little and various other influences. We will explore, play, sense, feel, dance hard, dance soft, go outside, sweat, and we will help each other learn some new things. The Labs are limited to 10 participants.

Areas of interest that I will continue to work with are:

Heart – States of the heart: grasping, anxious, heavy, light, open, etc. Relationship of heart and the blood.

Bonding and Defending – through the developmental patterns of movement we learn to bond or defend with ourselves, others, earth, sky. In revisiting these patterns and through connecting them to particular systems (Lymph, Skeletal, Muscular, Nervous) of the body I am interested in the expressions of this through dance.

Elements from the first lab experiments were included in Tic Toc, a production of my dance work in Octobre 2008.
